ODM's Hurricane Preparedness Week 2020

You are invited to tune in to the DBS Program “Talking Point” at 9am on Monday 25 when the ODM, the Met Service and the Sub-Committees of Emergency Shelter and Health Services brings you up to date information on preparedness and hurricane predictions for the season and Managing shelters during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tuesday 26 “Talking Point Program” will highlight Sub-Committees of Public Utilities and Environmental Protection and Friday 29 DAIC will discuss huricane preparedness among the business community. On Wednesday 27 the ODM will be out in the field to make contacts with disaster committees on a limited basis.

Saturday the 30th is dubbed “Community Clean-Up Day” where the public is encouraged to do some type of hurricane preparedness/readiness activity such as cleaning drains around homes, trimming overhang trees or dead trees that pose a danger, inspect your homes for readiness, provide some assistance to the elderly etc. Volunteer in any way you can while obeying physical distancing and remember to wear masks and wash /sanitize hands frequently.

ODM will also provide interesting nuggets of information about Disaster Management in Dominica, facts and preparedness tips about hurricanes and other hazards on DBS “DID YOU KNOW” program on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 at 6:50am.

On Sunday May 31 be in prayer for the country as we go through another hurricane season that is predicted to be an active one by NOAA
